Molonglo Town Centre
Molonglo Town Centre will be at the heart of Molonglo, a new suburb on the western edge of the Australian Capital Territory. Canberra’s sixth Town Centre under the National Capital Plan, it will be the main commercial hub of a 97-hectare district that will house 15,000 residents.
Yerrabingin was engaged to provide designing with Country services for Stage 01 of the master plan, working closely with Suburban Land Agency, HATCH, Redbox Design Group, Planit Strategic and Ecoaus.
The Yerrabingin team is creating a Designing with Country strategy that reflects the key aspirations and cultural expressions of the local First Nations Community. Building on the previous Connecting with Country engagement by other consultants, Yerrabingin conducted desktop research for the site, and presented back to the local First Nations Community for feedback and input into the elements analysis and understanding of the site’s Place in Country.
Yerrabingin also developed Connecting with Country Design Moves and an open space typologies matrix. This will identify opportunities to regenerate Country, strive for innovation, foster custodianship and create a legacy for future generations dwelling within the Molonglo Valley.
