Warrawong Community Health Centre

The new Warrawong Community Health Centre will provide essential community-based health services such as community nursing, child and family health and mental health support as part of the $780 million New Shellharbour Hospital and Integrated Services Project.

Yerrabingin was engaged to facilitate the development of cultural design narratives for the new health facility. Working closely with Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District, COX, Savills, Health Infrastructure, and members of the local First Nations Community, Yerrabingin’s approach informed the detailed design.

Through contextual research and analysis, three cultural narratives were identified: Shapes of Our Land and Sea; Special Connections; and A Guiding Place. These narratives were shared with Community and refined based on feedback.

Following the Community engagement phase, Yerrabingin has provided landscape architecture services, taking the project from concept design and design development through to tender and construction certificate. Across each of these phases, we ensured the integrity of the designing with Country narratives were maintained.

Embedding the themes of Country into the design will support all communities to find comfort in this place of healing.
